Stories From the Field

The work is best told by the animals.

Some calls become much more than a single visit. These are two of the stories behind the work — one unfolding right now, and one that began with two donkeys who needed a second chance.

Ongoing Rescue

It Started With Sean.

One sheep in trouble led us to a much larger story: more sheep, Maurice the goat, Brodie, ducks and cats — and a rescue effort that continues today.

The rescue isn't over. The next chapters are happening now.

A Story of Second Chances

Big Wolly & Doug

In March 2025, a concerned call led our humane agents to two donkeys living with badly neglected hooves. Their owner was injured, overwhelmed and asked for help.

A veterinarian and farrier stepped in, the boys received treatment, and volunteers spent weeks building enough trust to safely move them. Their journey includes hoof care, deworming, trailer training and a new life in foster care.

They didn't give up on people — so we won't give up on them.

Community Impact

Quiet work. Big numbers.

The programs may be run by volunteers, but their reach is substantial.

600+ dogs and cats spayed or neutered so far in 2026
100% volunteer-run organization
Brodie, a dog receiving veterinary care through the ongoing Sean rescue

This Is Where Your Donations Go.

Brodie had never received routine veterinary care. Through the ongoing Sean rescue he received a full examination, vaccinations, neutering, a microchip, bloodwork and treatment.

About $1,100 in veterinary care.

That's one animal, one case and one very concrete example of what local support makes possible.
